Connecting With Other WordCampers on Slack

Zoals de meeste WordCamps, werken wij ook met Slack en wel op de WordPress Nederland Slack. Er zijn private en publieke Slack kanalen.

Wat is Slack?

Slack is een communicatiemiddel welke door de WordPress gemeenschap gebruikt wordt om over diverse aspecten van WordPress te communiceren. Daarnaast kun je er iemand direct mee bereiken als deze een Slack-account heeft. Je kunt je bij verschillende kanalen aanmelden om over specifieke onderwerpen te praten.

Slack is ook de eenvoudigste manier om met andere bezoekers en vrijwilligers in contact te komen, voor, gedurende en na WordCamp Utrecht. Het is een superhandig berichtentool.

Wil je deelnemen aan de gesprekken?

Aanmelden bij WordPress Nederland Slack is heel eenvoudig. Allereerst moet je nadenken over hoe je met Slack gaat werken. Er zijn een aantal opties:

  1. Via de website,
  2. of met een van de apps voor Android en iOS phones.
  3. Daarnaast zijn er apps voor Windows, Mac en de verschillende Linux-varianten.

Zodra je je keuze hebt gemaakt moet je het volgende doen:

  1. Ga naar https://wpnl.slack.com/signup en vul je WordPress.org accountnaam en wachtwoord in.
  2. Als je geen WordPress.org account hebt, maak dan eerst een account op https://login.wordpress.org/register.
    Volg de aanwijzigingen om je account te maken en ga dan terug naar https://wpnl.slack.com/signup en doorloop stap 1 nogmaals.
  3. Zodra je ingelogd bent, verschijnt onder “Joining the WordPress team on Slack” een tekst. Lees dit en als je akkoord bent met wat er staat, klik je op de link om jezelf een uitnodiging toe te sturen voor WordPress Nederland Slack.
  4. Je zou een mail moeten krijgen met als onderwerp “WordPress.org has invited you to join a Slack workspace“. Klik op de “Join Now” knop.
  5. Doorloop de rest van de stappen totdat je account gereed is.

What is Slack?

Slack is a communication tool used by the WordPress Community to communicate about various aspects of WordPress. In addition to being able to directly message anyone who has an account, you can join a number of different “channels” to communicate about specific topics.

Slack is also the easiest way to connect with fellow attendees before, during, and after the event.  It’s a fantastic messaging tool.

Wanna Join the Conversation?

Joining the WordPress Nederland Slack is fairly simple. For starters, you’ll need to decide how you want to access Slack. There are a wide variety of options:

  1. There’s a web app,
  2. Apps for both Android and iOS phones,
  3. And native apps for both Windows and Mac and Linux.

Once you decide how you’re going to view slack, you’ll need to do the following:

  1. Go to https://wpnl.slack.com/signup and enter your WordPress.org account.
  2. If you don’t have a WordPress.org account, create an account at https://login.wordpress.org/register.
    Follow the prompts to create your account and then go back to https://wpnl.slack.com/signup and go through step 1 again.
  3. Once you log in, under the “Joining the WordPress team on Slack” should show a new message.  Read the message, and if you’re okay with the fine print, click the link to send yourself an invite to the WordPress Nederland Slack.
  4. You should receive an email with “WordPress.org has invited you to join a Slack workspace” as the subject line. Click the “Join Now” button.
  5. Follow the prompts until you have an account.
